Sodding

Sodding entails placing squares or strips of growing turfgass and the adhering soil onto a final planting site. The strips or squares are tightly butted to one another to produce a complete cover of turfgrass. Although the vareties are more limited than with seeding, there are still many varieties to choose from.

Advantages of sodding:

1.   An "instant" lawn is installed.

2.   Sodded lawns can be safely trafficked sooner than seeded lawns.

3.   Erosion control is achieved.

4.   Sod can be installed any time during the growing season, provided the ground is not frozen.

5.   Sod is weed free.
